There is something rather lovely about spending Christmas in the southern summer.
You'll arrive in Rio de Janeiro on the 21st December, allowing yourselves time to relax at a five star hotel prior to your embarkation the following day.
This nine-night round trip on MSC Splendida leaves Rio de Janeiro on the evening of 22 December 2026.
Over the following days it traces the coast of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, then brings you back into Rio early on New Year's Eve.
The first evening begins with an 8pm departure from Rio. On day two you reach Ilhabela, the island off the São Paulo coast, going ashore by tender for a full day from 8am to 6pm. Day three brings Camboriú, also by tender, before Christmas Day itself is spent at sea, with time to enjoy the ship.
On day five you call at Punta del Este in Uruguay, by tender, from 8am until 4pm. Day six is Buenos Aires, with a full day alongside from 8am to 6pm to explore the Argentine capital. Two days at sea follow as you sail north again.
The ship returns to Ilhabela on day nine for a second day ashore, from 9am to 6pm, and arrives back in Rio de Janeiro at 8am on 31 December, in time for the city's New Year's Eve. When you step ashore, a driver will be waiting to take you to your premium hotel. You'll then have time to enjoy the sights, sounds and delicacies that only Brazil can offer, before welcoming in the New Year in true Brazilian style, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
On board, full board is included in the buffet and main restaurant, along with the gym, pools, West End-style theatre shows and children's clubs. Drinks packages, WiFi, speciality dining and spa treatments are available as extras if you would like them. There are five cabin types to choose from, from interiors to suites and the MSC Yacht Club. Once you've arrived back in Rio de Janeiro, you'll make your way to a beautiful hotel, with dinner arranged should you wish, in preparation for celebrating and welcoming the new year from the beautiful city which is Rio.
